College Republicans United has been approached by dozens of organizations seeking our help during these tumultuous midterm elections. Various candidates, the NRA, Americans for Prosperity, and even the GOP itself have expressed desires for our services. In a perfect world there would be enough young people to do these tasks, it would certainly make a difference in the political realm. Truth is, we’re college students first and we have our own responsibilities to tend to. That’s why we are so thankful to our members who are able to answer the call for important volunteer events.
Recently CRU made a pact with Brigette Maggio & new CRU member Michaella Brassfield who works for the GOP as Field Coordinators who manage canvassing turf operations for the party. On September 15th, The GOP called for a National Day of Action and CRU answered.
CRU formed two teams:
Scottsdale, lead by Michaella Brassfield, Rick Thomas, Kevin Decuyper, Bret Musil, Jonathan Rigney
Chandler, lead by Brigette Maggio, Joshua Bernard, Mark Grigoriev, Chase Smith
– Hundreds of doors knocked – Hundreds of brochures distributed – Countless conversations about Kavanaugh, Trump, McSally, and Ducey with the community.
I cannot thank everyone enough who participated in this event. We canvassed from 8am to noon, and some went further until 6pm. You are the best of College Republicans United! Thank you!
College Republicans have a history of RINO activities
If you want to get an idea of the general membership and their poor leadership decisions, it wasn’t that long ago when the College Republicans set up a chapter in Flagstaff with Bernie Sanders supporters. They found a small group of people who asked to setup a club, and without doing any sort of vetting, gave them the authority to start a College Republican chapter. They were personal friends with the CRs in Tucson and that was good enough for them. You can imagine the problems of a “Republican club supporting a Democratic Socialist” – Kevin Decyper can elaborate that story better.
How College Republicans United started
That might as well be ancient history, so let’s talk about something a bit more recent. In the fall of 2017 there was an opening in the Executive Board for Secretary at ASU. Judah at the time was a Freshman and attended his first ever meeting at ASU. The CR President, Jennifer Custis, unilaterally decided to encourage him to run for this position due to his father’s influence within Jeff Flake’s social circle. Although in violation of the club bylaws, the CR President did everything within her power to prop up Judah. When his opposing candidate secured the majority support of members, the election was outright cancelled.
Judah approached us with tears in his eyes, he didn’t understand why so many opposed him. We responded that it was nothing personal but that he was not qualified according to the rules. Over the next few weeks members were harassed by Jennifer and her clique for opposing Judah and two individuals were banned from the club for their conviction.
Judah was appointed without a vote to fill the role as Secretary and CR members became rightfully enraged. When the faculty adviser, Donald Critchlow, tried to intervene with reasonable compromises, he was later called a ‘mother fucker’ by the CR President Jennifer Custis .
You need to understand the mindset of Jennifer and Judah. On multiple occasions she stated that this was ‘her club’. The club bylaws were obstructive to her goals so she ultimately ignored them. Judah belongs to the establishment RINO clique that has a stranglehold on AZ politics. He was a huge supporter of Jeff Flake up until he dropped out of the race, and then switched his support to Martha McSally. So it was not a shock to the rest of the members when Kelli Ward was banned from speaking at CRs.
Needless to say these events started a chain reaction that eventually led to the creation of College Republicans United. When The CR President was forced to actually have an election, she brought in her sorority ADPI sisters and attempted to stack the vote. Ultimately College Republicans imploded and most left to join College Republicans United the following semester. Austin, Ariff, and Kirkland can expand on how Jennifer labeled them as racists when they ran at the end of Spring in 2018.
Jen says to Judah “I’ve given/gotten you literally two appointed positions what do you have to say for yourself? Literally House Of Cards”
Judah says to Jen “They hate me”
Jen says to Judah “I want them all gone,” (them referring to our side) and that she should “Vote ALL of them out.”
Harassment of CRU members continue
You would think Jennifer and Judah would have been happy to remove the entire Trump, Ward, MAGA members from their RINO club. Unfortunately that’s still not good enough. CR membership during the spring semester was reduced to only 8 active individuals. Judah has held a grudge toward College Republicans United ever since, and has done everything within his power to discredit our club and its members for challenging his entitlement.
Judah & Jennifer got Kimberly Yee to cancel her meeting with us this past spring due to accusations of misogyny and anti-Semitism.
Judah is on record slandering CRU students as ‘alt-right and anti-Semitic’ at the Paradise Valley Women’s Conservative Club. – Mark Grigoriev can vouch for this.
Judah wrote to Alice with Chips N Salsa Radio that CRU was a neonazi club or at best alt-right in attempt to cancel our interview at their radio station.
Judah is a known liar, unethical, and without morals.
Judah lied on Chips and Salsa that ASU was discriminating towards College Republicans for recruiting as an excuse for their poor membership turnout in 2018. When in reality their President for the first half of 2018 never even applied to table and then failed to pay off a $30 fee for a previous trash violation. We have the document proving this. When College Republicans United applied to table, ASU mistook our organization for theirs. Otherwise ASU has never given a problem to College Republicans United, Young Americans for Liberty, Turning Point, or any other conservative club. Judah is known to play the victim when it suits his narrative.
The current CR President, Alexander Phillips claims he wants to be on good terms with College Republicans United. He’s on record to saying he holds no ill will towards us. We agree the right should not be fighting our own when we may agree 70% of the time on any given issue. Our true enemy should be towards those who advocate on behalf of ANTIFA. Yet unknown elements within College Republicans have previously associated with ANTIFA to harass members of CRU. Fake twitter accounts by the name of Kelli Astron & Stacy Jarvis knew some intricate details about the schism and have tagged AZ ANTIFA to identify who removed ANTIFA literature from ASU.
We have no solid evidence linking those accounts to Judah, but it’s interesting that all three of these accounts including Judah’s twitter were deleted on the same day. It’s also interesting looking at the password recovery – Judah, Stacy, and Kelli have the same phone digit numbers associated to the account. Maybe it’s just pure coincidence, that is not for me to decide.
I would like College Republicans United to focus on our own club. We had the opportunity in taking the old CR club room when registering with ASU for the fall, but decided not to do it. We had the opportunity to write to their speakers last semester but figured it would be too petty. We would love to take Alexander Phillips on his offer of civility between our two clubs, but when hostile elements are trying to sabotage our club under his leadership, it’s difficult to achieve his goals. Alex needs to step up or he’s complicit in Judah’s behavior.
March for our rights is a pro-second amendment, non-profit organization, which hosted rallies in 13 cities across the country. College Republicans United was invited to speak, Kevin Decuyper, Rick Thomas, and Mark Grigoriev spoke along with various other conservatives. AZCentral interviewed CRU here.
Tempe Secretary Darian and West Vice President Tony had a Political Debate covering different issues hosted and moderated by President Rick of CRU at 7:30 PM (Pacific Time).
The issues discussed covered Tony’s support of Cory Booker and why he would be the best choice for the Democratic Party against Donald Trump, Eminent Domain, Healthcare, Free Market Healthcare, Gun Control, and President Trump’s proposed Wall
From June 7th – 13th, members of College Republicans United traveled to California to promote the club and seek out new allies. With the occasional tourist stops, we traveled over 1,500 miles in 25 hours in 6 days. From Phoenix to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and back. Here is the report from our trip.
On June 8th CRU met with Mike Cernovich with an open invitation to visit Arizona State University. After hearing our history and mission for the club he accepted our offer with a wonderful twist.
Cernovich will be at ASU this fall semester on September 18th. CRU will be the first test audience to view his new movie ‘Hoax: The Media’s War on Truth.’ a full-throttle visual plunge into the history and future of fake news, uncovering their techniques, unveiling their agenda, chronicling the rise of the New Media, and showing you how to fight back against their lies. Mike Cernovich will then host a Q&A session after the film. Exact time & room location pending.
By June 9th the California College Republicans had become embroiled in a scandal involving it’s Federation Chairwoman Ariana Rowlands and dozens of chapters over the dechartering of San Diego.
The controversy started June 3rd when San Diego Chair Mikaela McNally voted to decharter with California College Republicans. Many reasons for the vote were given, they all can be summed up to discontent and unhappiness with the direction of the Federation and College Republican National Committee. This follows after the Channel Islands and Fullerton who had already disassociated with Ariana’s Federation. California College Republicans responded to this threat by taking over social media accounts from the San Diego’s board and restructuring the club around three members appointed by Ariana. This new executive board then posted a press release denouncing the previous actions of San Diego and Mikaela specifically.
By the 9th, chapters across California and within the Federation began to denounce Ariana’s coup with a joint press release of their own. UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Merced, Central Coast RVC, California Lutheran College Republicans, and others began to call for the impeachment of Ariana and others involved with the plot.
On June 10th, Ariana made another statement downplaying her involvement in the coup and blamed the accusations on outside sources. 🙂 Members then began posting screenshots of her scheming and non-related banter against her character.
From an outsider’s perspective, what’s unfortunate about this situation is that Ariana was once a powerful force for good in challenging the establishment and sticking up for the MAGA agenda in California. When CRU split off from the RINO Club at ASU our members looked up to Ariana as she fought her own war against the establishment. Since her reelection this previous year however, she has turned on her long time allies and supporters. Many suspect in effort to pander for a future political career.
On June 12th CRU met with the President of a College Republican chapter. Although neutral in the ongoing conflict, he was sympathetic to San Diego. We shared the similar story of how CRU came to be and agreed that cooperation between chartered and non-chartered clubs was possible. College Republicans should not be afraid of competition, they should embrace it. The establishment has become too complacent & need a kick in the ass. If they’re truly afraid of being out-staged by competition or losing influence, then they never cared about the conservative movement to begin with and only got involved for personal gain.
College Republicans United will always cooperate with any organization for the greater good. We wish them all the best & hope other chapters weigh the opportunities of becoming independent student orgs.
College Republicans United was invited to attend Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s fundraiser at Phil’s Filling Station Grill at 16852 E Parkview Ave, in Fountain Hills. Guest speakers included candidate for Corporate Commission Neil DeSanti. Candidate for Fountain Hills Mayor Cecil Yates. CRU President Rick Thomas & Vice President Josh Bernard. In total five members of CRU were present at the event. It was a fantastic networking opportunity for members looking for summer jobs. We will keep you posted on future opportunities.
